A great way to experience the Borrowdale Valley This is a day out suitable for small groups (up to 8 people), families and individuals. There are lots of ways the basic program can be modified, depending on how fit or enthusiastic your group are! Basic Program: Meet at Denton House Hostel. Instructor will go through safety briefing and organise kit (they'll need to know about any medical problems at this stage so feel free to take them to one side if you'd rather discuss this in private - you should inform us of anything major at the time of booking). Climbing in Borrowdale - site dependent on group. Climbing is a hugely popular sport because it combines challenge with perceived risk and a fantastic sense of achievement when the goal is reached. And Borrowdale is a beautiful place to try it Lunch. Packed, pub or cafe. Canoeing on Derwentwater - could be a basic introduction followed by an expedition down the lake, or a trundle around the island and some canoe polo in the sunshine. Back to Denton House for a hot shower and a cup of tea. Options: For the fairly fit: Walk from Hostel to crag over Walla Crag and past Surprise View. Climb, and walk down to the lake. Canoe back to Keswick Landings. A long and quite strenuous but very rewarding day! For the fairly not fit: Drive down to crag. Climbing session. Gentle stroll down to lake. Keswick Launch trip down to Landings. Canoeing. All the views without quite so much effort! Or anything in between. Your instructor will be able to alter the program on the day if, for example the weather is bad, or you would rather spend longer canoeing than climbing. We can take a packed lunch, or head to one of the cafes or pubs in the valley for food. Prices and further information: We generally run days for individuals through the week and prices are based on that, but we can do some weekends (though prices will vary!). Please let us know when booking if you do not have your own transport available, and the ages of the group members. We take children over 8, provided they are in a group with a parent or guardian. Please note that we don't take individual, unsupervised children.
