Staying at Denton
House
-
Our
office is generally
open 9:30am to 1:30pm Monday to Friday. If you require assistance outside these
times, please shout upstairs for our on-site security staff member.
In an emergency we can be contacted by phone
on 07976 947008 or 07974 719129.
-
The hostel opens for new arrivals at 4pm.
-
We don’t take
credit cards,
so payment is cash, BACS or cheque only.
-
Please
vacate your room by 11am
on the day of departure. You are welcome to leave
luggage in the lockers for the day.
-
Breakfast is available
when we have enough people who want it! Please check with the office the day
before it’s required. Served at 8:30am in the Dining Room.
-
You are welcome to use the
kitchens as long as they are left clean. Please read the rules first and
give us a shout if you want the main oven lighting (commercial = ferocious).
Food can be stored in the larder and fridge – there is also a small freezer.
-
Tea and coffee are
available 24 hours in the washup. Please clear up after yourself.
-
We do not have either a
curfew
or a lock out and would like to continue this
way so please try and give our cleaners a bit of space when they are working.
The public areas of the centre are cleaned daily.
-
We are unable to give out
keys
for the rooms due to the terms of our Fire Certificate, but we do have a
new bank of left-luggage lockers (enormous
ones £2, very big ones £1!). Please make sure the outside security doors of the centre are not propped open.
-
We give out clean
sheet liners
and pillowcases for free to everyone. In order to keep the beds clean it is
essential that they are used and we
reserve the right to charge a £15 laundering fee to anyone who has clearly not used them (feel
free to use your own instead of course!).
-
Our
First Aid kit and
accident books are located in the office. Our instructional staff are all
qualified first aiders.
-
If you’d like to bring a dog (or several!) please check
with us when booking – you will need to be in a room booked as “sole use”. Let
us know if you need water/food bowls or doggy beds.
-
We now have a fab and groovy washing machine (£2/wash
including powder) and tumble drier (£0:50/20 minutes)
-
There’s a minimum £50 charge for anyone messing around with
the fire equipment so please don’t be tempted!
-
Bike and kayak storage
is available in the Boot Room. Please note that bikes/boats left are not covered
by our insurance and you may want to keep them locked. When the boot room is
full, we have a yard which is only accessible from within the hostel. We can
advise on good cycle routes; see the bike room walls for details…
-
If you’re having your
luggage
transferred by Sherpa or similar, you MUST inform us in advance or we may
not be able to accept it. We will put it in our lockers for you and the charge
will be added to your bill.
The Rules!
In the interests of global
harmony, please:
Ø Be considerate of other guests, particularly when coming in and out of
dorms at night
Ø
Do not smoke anywhere in the centre or in the courtyard
Ø Clear up after yourself – especially in the kitchens. Read the signs in
the kitchen before you use it.
Ø
Use the sheet liners provided (this is not optional!)
Ø
Turn lights off when you leave rooms and close fire doors at night
Ø
Do not prop the outside doors open at any time
Ø
Familiarise yourself with the Fire Procedure on arrival
Ø Keep the noise down outside the centre after 7pm and when walking back
from town after the pub (we have nice neighbours and would like to stay on good
terms with them!)
Ø
Call the mobile number on the board if there are any problems – we’d
rather know so we can sort things out than find out afterwards when it’s too
late.
Anyone behaving offensively to other
guests, staff or members of the public may be asked to leave without a refund.
No drugs, excessive alcohol consumption, violence, vandalism or inappropriate
behaviour towards female guests will be tolerated.
Thankyou!
