We can now run days out for smaller groups and individuals involving any of our standard outdoor activities, plus kayaking, hillwalking and navigation. Days can either be a fun set of taster sessions to introduce the basics of two or three activities or a more focused session for those with basic skills who'd like to advance. We also offer guided walks with an expert on the local geology, geography and landscape history.

The instructors we use for individual days will generally either hold higher-level qualifications or have a lot of experience plus the basic qualification in the activities you choose. We are very lucky in that we have a large field of excellent staff to choose from, all of whom specialise in different disciplines. Many of them have an extensive knowledge of the local area - perhaps the history or the wildlife - which can really make a day out with them a memorable experience.

We generally run days for individuals through the week and prices are based on that, but we can do some weekends (though prices will vary!). Please let us know when booking if you do not have your own transport available, and the ages of the group members. We take children over 8, provided they are in a group with a parent or guardian. Please note that we don't take individual, unsupervised children.

Price per person... Half Day Full Day
1 person £70 £120
2 people £40 £80
3 people £30 £60
4 people £25 £50

Taster Days:

Please have a look at our Activity page for more information on each activity (and see the Big Day Out in case that fits the bill). Then it's easiest if you give us a ring or send an email and we'll put a day together for you! We need to know roughly how fit you are (or how much exertion is required!), whether you want to use your own transport or walk/ferry/canoe/cycle between sites, and what you'd like to get out of the day. And we will do the rest.

Intermediate activity days:

If you've had a taste of climbing, hillwalking, scrambling, kayaking or canoeing, and want to learn the basics or progress further then we can help! If you haven't climbed in a few years and want to polish up your ropework, or if you've done some low-level walking but are a bit nervous about heading onto the tops, give us a call. See the Canoeing page if that's more your thing.

Landscape history days:

If you're interested in how the Lake District became the way it is, the processes that formed it and the people who developed and used it resources then a day out with an enthusiastic local guide could be for you. Our guide is a former lecturer in geography and geology, who has led guided walks and field courses in the Lakes for many years. He combines this with a personal interest in local history and will really open your eyes to the landscape around you.

Legends, Battles and Ghosts:

The rich history of Cumbria and the Lake District is both bloodthirsty and romantic - have a look at Touchstone Tours' website for an entertaining and informative day out:
